THE TOP MOMENTS IN WRESTLEMANIA HISTORY

Liberace dances with the Rockettes – WrestleMania
The first-ever WrestleMania was not only jam packed with the biggest Superstars in WWE, it was also filled with some of the world’s top celebrities. Among the stars on hand for the event were Liberace and the Rockettes. Liberace filled the roll of timekeeper for the nights' main event match, and in traditional Liberace style, he made a grand entrance. The glitzy piano-playing celebrity danced around the squared circle with the Rockettes in one of the most famous celebrity moments in WrestleMania history.

King Kong Bundy annihilates S.D. Jones in 9 seconds – WrestleMania
It’s only fitting that a WWE record was broken at the first-ever WrestleMania. The massive King Kong Bundy, who was managed by “The Mouth of the South” Jimmy Hart at the time, made extremely short work of his opponent S.D. Jones at Madison Square Garden. Bundy polished off Jones with an avalanche and splash in a shocking nine seconds.

Andre throws the money he won in the Bodyslam Challenge against Big John Studd to the fans – WrestleMania
At WrestleMania, Andre the Giant took on his long-time nemesis Big John Studd in a $15,000 Bodyslam Challenge. After Andre slammed Studd, he was awarded with a bag filled with $15,000 cash. The always-generous Andre began throwing the money into the crowd, as the mere satisfaction of slamming his enemy was the only reward that he wanted. The devious Bobby “The Brain” Heenan, who was Studd’s manager, snuck into the ring and snatched away the bag of money before Andre could empty all of its contents.

Cyndi Lauper helps Wendi Richter win the Women’s Championship – WrestleMania
WrestleMania was one of the highlights of the Rock N’ Wrestling era. The recording industry’s Cyndi Lauper, who is most well-known for her timeless song "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun," was a big fan of Wendi Richter and stood in her corner at WrestleMania. She even got involved in the match, and her interference helped lead Richter to a win over Leilani Kai. Lauper’s involvement made her one of the most influential celebrities in WrestleMania history.

“Cowboy” Bob Orton accidentally hits “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff with his cast – WrestleMania
The main event of the first-ever WrestleMania was definitely one for the ages, as Hogan paired up with celebrity Mr. T to take on “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff. Piper and Orndorff had “Cowboy” Bob Orton in their corner and Hogan and Mr. T had “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka in theirs. In the end, Orton tried to nail Mr. T with his cast that was on his arm, but he accidentally hit Orndorff instead, allowing Hogan to pick up the pin and the win for his team.

William “Refrigerator” Perry pulls Big John Studd over the top rope in the WWE and NFL Battle Royal – WrestleMania 2
To answer the age old question of “Who’s tougher, wrestlers or football players?” a Battle Royal was signed for WrestleMania 2 that included Superstars from both WWE and the NFL. Among the NFL players involved was hometown favorite William “The Refrigerator” Perry, who had his eye on Big John Studd. Studd ended up eliminating Perry, but Perry got the last laugh when he conned Studd into shaking his hand only to pull him out over the top rope leading to his elimination.

Ray Charles sings "America the Beautiful" – WrestleMania 2
Several celebrities such as Aretha Franklin, Reba McEntire and Boyz II Men have sung "America the Beautiful" over the years at WrestleMania, but perhaps no rendition was more memorable than that of the late, great Ray Charles. Charles certainly set the tone for what turned out to be a spectacular night at WrestleMania 2, a night that saw Hogan successfully defend the WWE Championship against King Kong Bundy in a Steel Cage Match in the main event of the evening.

“Rowdy” Roddy Piper bodyslams Mr. T during their boxing match – WrestleMania 2
The main event of the first WrestleMania included both “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and Mr. T, and they continued their rivalry into WrestleMania 2. This time, they tried to settle their differences in a boxing match. Piper jumped out to the advantage in the first round, but Mr. T came storming back and by the time the fourth round was coming to a close, Piper became frustrated and bodyslammed Mr. T earning himself a disqualification.

The Junkyard Dog leaves the ring wearing King Harley Race’s cape – WrestleMania III
Junkyard Dog was one of the most popular Superstars in WWE history, and it certainly showed at WrestleMania III. His match against King Harley Race stipulated that the loser would have to bow down to the winner. During the match Bobby “The Brain” Heenan distracted JYD, allowing Race to hit his patented belly-to-belly suplex for the win. After a quick courtesy and bow, JYD attacked Race and stole his cape. After Race fled the ring, JYD marched around the ring sporting his purple cape and then exited to the locker room with a huge smile on his face waving to all of his fans.

King Kong Bundy squashes Little Beaver – WrestleMania III
WrestleMania III marked the first-and-only time that midget wrestlers were featured in action. Hillbilly Jim teamed up with Little Beaver and the Haiti Kid to take on King Kong Bundy, Lord Littlebrook and Little Tokyo. After some taunting from Little Beaver, Bundy became upset and bodyslammed the Little Beaver earning a disqualification. But Bundy wasn’t fully satisfied yet, as he also laid a massive elbow on the fallen midget. After Bundy’s heinous act, Hillbilly Jim scooped up Little Beaver in his arms and carried him back to the locker room.

The record-breaking crowd at the Pontiac Silverdome – WrestleMania III
Although the action inside the ring was obviously the focal point of WrestleMania III, it was impossible not to be blown away by the immense, record setting crowd on hand at the Pontiac Silverdome. The WWE fans broke the indoor attendance record as 93,173 people came from all over to watch Hogan take on the undefeated Andre the Giant at one of the most famous events in WWE history.

Greg “The Hammer” Valentine, Dino Bravo and Jimmy Valiant abandon Brutus Beefcake after The Dream Team’s win over the Rougeau Brothers – WrestleMania III
Just one year prior to WrestleMania III, The Dream Team, Brutus Beefcake & Greg “The Hammer” Valentine, were the World Tag Team Champions. They lost the championship at WrestleMania 2 to the British Bulldogs and tensions among the group led by Luscious Johnny Valiant began to rise. In their WrestleMania III match against The Rougeau Brothers, it looked as though a miscue from Beefcake was going to lead to a loss for the Dream Team. Valiant distracted the referee, though, allowing Dino Bravo to take out The Rougeaus. Even though they ended up winning, Valentine, Valliant and Bravo exited for the locker room without Beefcake, leaving him stranded in the ring by himself, thus breaking up The Dream Team.

“Rowdy” Roddy Piper and Brutus Beefcake shave Adrian Adonis’ head – WrestleMania III
“Rowdy” Roddy Piper’s match against “Adorable” Adrian Adonis was being billed as Piper’s retirement match. Although Piper made several comebacks over the years, at the time WWE fans thought this would be the last time they would see the Rowdy Scott, so emotions were at an all-time high. Piper eventually put Adonis to sleep with his sleeperhold, and Brutus Beefcake, who had come down to help Piper during the match, also helped him shave the Adorable one’s head. Not only did this seem to make a perfect ending for Piper’s career, but it also marked the beginning of Beefcake’s run as the “Barber.”

Alice Cooper drapes Damian over Jimmy Hart – WrestleMania III
Alice Cooper was one of the more controversial rock n’ roll acts of his time, and he brought that main stream notoriety with him to WWE at WrestleMania III when he seconded Jake “The Snake” Roberts in his match against Honky Tonk Man. Although Honky Tonk Man pulled off the upset, Cooper and Roberts got the last laugh as they draped Roberts’ snake Damien all over Honky Tonk Man’s manager, “The Mouth of the South” Jimmy Hart.

Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat pins Randy “Macho Man” Savage – WrestleMania III
Not only was the Intercontinental Championship match between Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat and Randy “Macho Man” Savage one of the best Intercontinental Championship matches of all time, it is widely regarded as one of the best matches of all time bar none. Savage had taken out Steamboat months prior to WrestleMania with a larynx injury caused by slamming the ring bell into his throat. Steamboat made a miraculous recovery in only a couple of months, allowing him to seek revenge at the Silverdome. Savage seemed to have everything going his way, but he couldn’t put Steamboat away. He went for a bodyslam, but Steamboat held on and rolled him up for the pin and his only championship in WWE, as the record-breaking crowd erupted.

Hogan bodyslams Andre the Giant – WrestleMania III
Hogan defending his WWE Championship against the undefeated Andre the Giant was arguably the most anticipated match in sports-entertainment history. Former friends, Andre was tired of Hogan always getting the spotlight. The Eighth Wonder of the World was undefeated and felt it was finally his time to shine. Hogan accepted the challenge and the match occurred at WrestleMania III. After failing in his first attempt to slam the Giant early in the match, Hogan miraculously lifted Andre in the air and slammed him down to the canvas in one of the most memorable moments in WWE history.

Bad News Brown turns on Bret “Hit Man” Hart at the end of a Battle Royal – WrestleMania IV
WrestleMania IV kicked off with a 20-man Battle Royal. The Battle Royal came down to Bad News Brown, Bret “Hit Man” Hart and Junkyard Dog. Hart and Brown decided to form an alliance to take out JYD, and they succeeded. After JYD was gone, the two acted as if they would leave as co-winners, but Brown had other plans as he sabotaged Hart and tossed him out for the win. Following the match, Hart delivered his own beating to Brown and destroyed the winner’s trophy.

Andre the Giant chokes Bob Uecker during an interview – WrestleMania IV
Bob Uecker’s interviewing skills lent itself to one of the funniest moments in WrestleMania history, unless you’re Bob Uecker that is. Uecker was interviewing Andre the Giant backstage, and Andre had his hand on Uecker’s shoulders. Uecker quipped, “Get your foot off my shoulder,” and Andre was none too pleased. He responded by wrapping his massive hands around Uecker’s neck, shaking him to and fro.

Bobby “The Brain” Heenan comes to the ring wearing a dog-proof suit – WrestleMania IV
During the WrestleMania IV broadcast, Bobby “The Brain” Heenan received a mysterious package while he was providing commentary. The audience eventually found out what it was when he came down to the ring for his match with The Islanders against Koko B. Ware and The British Bulldogs wearing a dog-proof suit. Heenan was afraid that the Bulldogs’ mascot Matilda would attack him, so he came prepared.

The Mega Powers Explode – WrestleMania V
WrestleMania V was a classic case of best friends turned into worst enemies. Holywood Hogan and Randy “Macho Man” Savage formed one of the most powerful partnerships in WWE history after WrestleMania IV, calling themselves the Mega Powers. All good things must come to an end, though, and this tandem was no exception. Savage became paranoid that Hogan was trying to steal his woman, Elizabeth, and it led to one of the biggest matches in WrestleMania history as the Mega Powers exploded at WrestleMania V. Although Savage more or less started the feud, Hogan ended it when he won the WWE Championship at Trump Plaza.

Andre the Giant lays out Bobby “The Brain” Heenan – WrestleMania VI
Andre the Giant was a co-holder of the World Tag Team Championship with Haku, and both were managed by Bobby “The Brain” Heenan. Demolition, Ax and Smash, came into WrestleMania VI with intentions of taking back the belts. Due to a miscue between Andre and Haku, Demolition was able to capitalize and pick up the win. After the match, an enraged Heenan slapped Andre. Andre could take no more as he decked Heenan, as the crowd cheered him on. Andre came to the ring hated by the sold out Toronto SkyDome crowd, but he left revered by them. It also marked Andre’s last WrestleMania match.

“Rowdy” Roddy Piper paints half of his body black – WrestleMania VI
To say that there was bad blood between “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and Bad News Brown heading into WrestleMania VI would be a vast understatement. In fact, Brown even went so far as to say that Piper’s intentions were racist. Piper responded by showing up for his WrestleMania VI match with Brown with half of his body painted black to show that it didn’t matter if Brown was black or white. It was certainly one of the most controversial moments in WrestleMania history, but one would expect nothing less from the Rowdy Scott.

Hogan hands Ultimate Warrior the WWE Championship – WrestleMania VI
The Intercontinental and WWE Championship match between Hogan and Ultimate Warrior was dubbed the Ultimate Challenge, and it certainly lived up to its billing. After missing his patented leg drop, Hogan was taken down by the Warrior after a big splash. Instead of being a sore loser following the defeat, Hogan grabbed what used to be his WWE Championship and gave it to Ultimate Warrior before embracing him in a true act of good sportsmanship.

Jake “The Snake” Roberts stalks “The Model” Rick Martel in a Blindfold Match – WrestleMania VII
“The Model” Rick Martel was always known for spraying his pungeant cologne, Arrogance, into the air before and after his matches. But in the weeks leading up to WrestleMania, Martel sprayed the cologne into Jake Roberts’ eyes, leaving him temporarily blinded. Roberts’ sight slowly acme back to him, but to show Martel what it’s like to be blind, the first ever Blindfold Match was signed for WrestleMania VII. Both men were blindfolded during the match, but since Roberts had been used to being without sight, he had the clear advantage and stalked Martel around the ring before putting him away with his patented DDT.

Randy “Macho Man” Savage reunites with Elizabeth – WrestleMania VII
Randy “Macho Man” Savage put his career on the line at WrestleMania VII in a match against Ultimate Warrior. Known as King Savage at the time, Randy was accompanied to the ring by Queen Sherri. Savage landed an amazing five flying elbows on the Warrior, but somehow the Ultimate one kicked out and eventually got the win. Following the match Queen Sherri laced into Savage with a series of kicks. Elizabeth, who was on hand to watch her former man in his career-threatening match, jumped over the railing and rushed to the ring to save Savage. She quickly disposed of Sherri, and Savage started to come to. Upon seeing his former woman, Savage didn’t know what to do. The two had bitterly parted a couple of years ago, but the fans urged them to get back together. Savage finally held out his arms as Liz jumped into his warm and familiar embrace as the crowd absolutely exploded. Savage then hoisted Elizabeth onto his shoulders, posing for the fans. As they were getting ready to leave the ring, Elizabeth held open the ropes for Savage, just as she had done so many times before. But this time Savage waved her off and instead held the ropes open for the woman he loved. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as WWE fans were shown bawling in tears in the most touching WWE moment in history.

Virgil defeats the “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase – WrestleMania VII
After years of basically being at the beckon call of “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase, Virgil became fed up with the way he was treated and revolted against his employer at the Royal Rumble. “Rowdy” Roddy Piper took Virgil under his wing to teach him how to “be a man.” This of course, led to a match at WrestleMania VII. Virgil was doing his best to keep up with the far more experienced DiBiase and was hanging tough. During the match DiBiase was sent into the ropes, and Piper pulled down the top rope, causing him to fall to the floor. DiBiase couldn’t recover in time and was counted out, giving Virgil the huge upset, causing the fans to go bananas.

Andre the Giant comes to the aid of Big Boss Man – WrestleMania VII
Although Andre the Giant’s last WrestleMania match was at WrestleMania VI, he did make an appearance at WrestleMania VII and played a major role in Mr. Perfect’s Intercontinental Championship defense against Big Boss Man. As it became clear that Bobby “The Brain” Heenan would do all he could to help Mr. Perfect win, Andre came to ringside to help even up the sides for the Boss Man. Andre even knocked out Mr. Perfect with the title belt, but Haku and The Barbarian ran in for the disqualification anyways.

Ultimate Warrior comes to the aid of Hogan – WrestleMania VIII
One of the most shocking moments in WrestleMania history came at WrestleMania VIII when Hogan took on Sycho Sid in what was being billed as Hogan’s last match. Hogan seemed to have things in control as he hit the big leg drop on Sid, but Papa Shango ran down to ringside to force the disqualification. As Hogan was being ferociously beaten down, Ultimate Warrior ran down to ringside to the rescue. The Warrior hadn’t been seen or heard from in months, so his appearance was a shock to all of the fans in attendance as well as to Hogan.

Ric Flair goes berserk in an interview after Randy “Macho Man” Savage defeats him for the WWE Championship – WrestleMania VIII
In the weeks leading up to WrestleMania VIII, Ric Flair claimed that he used to have a relationship with Elizabeth before Randy “Macho Man” Savage did. As if more fuel was needed to add to the fire of this WWE Championship match, it was clear that more than just the championship was on the line. It had become personal. After struggling in the figure four leglock for a while, Savage pulled off a roll up from out of nowhere for the pin. Following the match, a crazed and bloodied Flair went insane giving a highly emotional interview backstage with Sean Mooney stating that Savage cheated by pulling the tights and that he would get his revenge.

Hogan defeats Yokozuna for the WWE Championship – WrestleMania IX
Hogan shocked the world at WrestleMania IX. After competing in a tag match with Brutus Beefcake against Money Inc. earlier in the evening, Hogan came out to check on a fallen Bret “Hit Man” Hart after he had lost to the mighty Yokozuna. While at ringside, Yokozuna challenged Hogan to a match right on the spot. With Hart’s blessing, Hogan accepted. Mr. Fuji attempted to throw salt in Hogan’s eyes, a tactic which helped defeat Hart, but Hogan ducked and the salt went into Yokozuna’s eyes, blinding him. Hogan was able to knock him down and hit the leg drop for the shocking win and the WWE Championship.

Bobby “The Brain” Heenan enters Caesar’s Palace riding backwards on a camel – WrestleMania IX
WrestleMania IX will go down in history as one of the largest toga parties ever. Taking place at Caesar’s Palace, everyone tried to make a grand entrance. Randy “Macho Man” Savage, for example, was carried out by some beautiful vestial virgins. Bobby “The Brain” Heenan, however, rode to ringside, dressed in a toga, on a camel, backwards, in one of the most hilarious moments in WWE history.

Shawn Michaels hits the splash off a ladder on Razor Ramon – WrestleMania X
WrestleMania X will go down as one of the best WrestleManias in history, and a main reason for that is the first-ever Ladder Match between Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon to determine the undisputed Intercontinental Champion. There were several memorable moments during the match, but perhaps the most memorable was Michaels leaping off the top of ladder and landing a splash on Ramon. Ramon may have ended up winning the match, but Michaels soaring off the ladder is a visual that will be etched in the minds of WWE fans forever.

Owen Hart gets the best of his brother Bret – WrestleMania X
Before Bret “Hit Man” Hart defeated Yokozuna in the main event of WrestleMania X for the WWE Championship, he faced his brother Owen in the event’s opener. Owen had been sick of living in Bret’s shadow and he took full advantage of the match to step out. The two put on an absolute wrestling clinic, as Owen seemed to know Bret’s every move and likewise. But Owen shocked the world when he rolled Bret up for the win in one of the greatest upsets in WWE history.

Lawrence Taylor pins Bam Bam Bigelow – WrestleMania XI
There have been countless celebrities come through WWE throughout the years during the first 20 WrestleManias, but perhaps none had a bigger impact than former New York Giants Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor. After being pushed at the Royal Rumble while in his ringside seat by Bam Bam Bigelow, LT signed to face the big man in the center of the ring at WrestleMania XI. Taylor took to the ring like a fish takes to water and finished off Bigelow with a flying shoulderblock off the ropes for perhaps the biggest upset in WWE history.

“Rowdy” Roddy Piper strips down Goldust – WrestleMania XII
“Rowdy” Roddy Piper took on Goldust in one of the most unique matches in WWE history at WrestleMania XII, a Hollywood Backlot Brawl. The two Superstars started the match outside the arena at an undisclosed Hollywood backlot. Piper used everything but the kitchen sink to decimate Goldust, but before long the two sped off towards the Los Angeles Coliseum. Later in the evening, they fought their way to the ring and continued the fight. After Goldust laid a kiss on Piper, the Rowdy Scott went berserk and stripped Goldust of his ring attire revealing women’s underwear in a bizarre, yet memorable moment.

Shawn Michaels comes to the ring on a zip-line – WrestleMania XII
After years of hard work, Shawn Michaels finally had a chance to achieve his boyhood dream. HBK went one-on-one with WWE Champion Bret “Hit Man” Hart in a 60-minute WWE Iron Man Match. Michaels came to the ring like only The Showstopper could as he flew through the air on a zip line making the grandest entrance in WrestleMania history.

Stone Cold passes out during his Submission Match with Bret “Hit Man” Hart – WrestleMania 13
Stone Cold represented the direction that WWE was heading in. A new attitude was taking over WWE and Stone Cold epitomized that attitude. Bret “Hit Man” Hart hated what was happening to the company he once ruled over. The fans even began booing him and started cheering Stone Cold. The two decided to lay it all on the line at WrestleMania 13 in a Submission Match with Ultimate Fighting Champion Ken Shamrock as the referee. After a brutal match that saw Stone Cold badly busted open, Hart locked in the Sharpshooter. Stone Cold could not escape Hart’s clutches, but he refused to give up. The sight of Stone Cold trying to lift himself off the mat with his arms, screaming in pain, as blood streamed down his face is a picture that represented a whole new era for WWE. Stone Cold eventually passed out from the pain, and although he lost, left the ring to a standing ovation as the fans chanted his name.

Undertaker’s entrance for his match against Kane – WrestleMania XIV
Undertaker has always had one of the most memorable entrances out of any WWE Superstar past or present, but he took his grand entrance to a whole new level at WrestleMania XIV. On the grandest stage of them all, it was only fitting that Undertaker go the extra mile in his entrance for his match against his brother, Kane. A parade of druids lined the entrance way, holding torches high above their heads. As the familiar gong went off, the Deadman finally came to the ring where he would eventually defeat his brother with three Tombstones.

Kane Tombstones Pete Rose – WrestleMania XIV
Before Kane was ready to take on his brother, Undertaker, at WrestleMania XIV, he had to take care of some light work. Pete Rose was acting as the special guest ring announcer, but was running down the Boston fans instead of getting to the ring introductions. Kane came to the ring and picked up Major League Baseball’s all-time hits leader and delivered a crushing Tombstone. Little did Rose know that he would meet that same fate the next two years as well.

Mike Tyson knocks out Shawn Michaels – WrestleMania XIV
When Shawn Michaels and Stone Cold were set to do battle for the WWE Championship, Mr. McMahon knew that only one person was tough enough to be a special ringside enforcer. That man was "Iron" Mike Tyson. The self-proclaimed baddest man on the planet was confronted by Stone Cold the same night his role at WrestleMania was announced. Tyson quickly aligned himself with Michaels and D-Generation X, but in the end, he counted the 1-2-3 and raised Stone Cold’s hand in victory. Tyson officially turned on Michaels after the match when he punched him out in true Tyson style.

Butterbean knocks out Bart Gunn – WrestleMania XV

Jeff Hardy hits the Swanton off the giant ladder – WrestleMania 2000
The Hardy Boyz, Edge & Christian and The Dudleys squared off for the World Tag Team Championship in a Ladder Match. All six Superstars put their bodies on the line, and the match featured several memorable but moments. But no moment sticks out more than when Jeff Hardy leapt off the top of a giant ladder and hit the Swanton Bomb on Bubba Ray Dudley through a table on the floor. It’s amazing both men even survived let alone continued on with their careers.

Stone Cold joins forces with Mr. McMahon – WrestleMania X-Seven
WWE Superstars always say that they would do anything to win the WWE Championship, but no one believed that Stone Cold would stoop to the ultimate low to do so. At WrestleMania X-Seven, Stone Cold challenged The Rock for the WWE Championship. Stone Cold and Mr. McMahon never seemed to have seen eye to eye on anything, so it’s no wonder that the WWE fans were shocked at the end of the match. In the end, Stone Cold enlisted the help of Mr. McMahon to defeat his nemesis and regain the WWE Championship.

Shane goes Coast to Coast against Mr. McMahon – WrestleMania X-Seven
Before running to the ring to help Stone Cold win the WWE Championship, Mr. McMahon had a match of his own against his very own son, Shane. This father and son duo put on one of the more vicious matches in recent memory. Tables, chairs and garbage cans were all used in this match, but the most memorable moment came when Shane went to the top rope. With his father hunched over in the adjacent corner, with a trash can laying in front of his face, Shane jumped from one end of the ring to the other, dropkicking the trash can into his father’s face as the crowd went wild.

Rhyno throws Matt Hardy and Bubba Ray Dudley off a ladder to the outside through a double stack of tables – WrestleMania X-Seven
The Hardy Boyz, Edge & Christian and The Dudleys had been battling over the World Tag Team Championship for more than one year. Just one year prior to the event, they tore each other apart in a Ladder Match. At SummerSlam they had their first ever Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match. This was TLC 2, and it will never be forgotten. In one of the most vicious moments of the match, Rhyno, who came to the aid of Edge & Christian, tossed Bubba Ray and Matt Hardy off a ladder in the ring and to the outside where they went crashing through a set of double tables.

The Rock and Hollywood Hogan go one on one – WrestleMania X8
It is very rare, but every once in a blue moon, a WWE Superstar becomes so famous that he reaches the status of “Icon.” It’s even more rare that two icons meet in the same ring to go one on one, but that was exactly the case at WrestleMania X8. After a long hiatus from WWE, Hogan returned with the nWo to wreak havoc on the WWE Superstars. The Rock challenged him to an Icon vs. Icon Match at WrestleMania X8, and Hogan accepted. In one of those rare moments that transcends the event itself, the two Icons met in the middle of the ring, face to face, for the first time. Shockingly, the Toronto crowd ended up actually favoring Hogan, who was still a part of the hated nWo at the time.

Brock Lesnar tries a Shooting Star Press – Wrestlemania XIX
Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle met in one of the most anticipated matches of the year at WrestleMania XIX. They both came from superb amateur backgrounds. Lesnar was an NCAA champion and Angle was an Olympic champion. The match went back and forth for the most part, but after hitting the F5, Lesnar went to the top rope and attempted a mind-boggling Shooting Star Press. Lesnar couldn’t achieve full rotation on the move, which is usually only performed by much smaller cruiserweights, and landed almost square on his head. Lesnar amazingly shook it off and hit another F5 for the win and the WWE Championship.

Victoria shaves Molly Holly’s head – WrestleMania XX
Victoria and Molly Holly’s rivalry over the Women’s Championship had become so intense that the ante had to be raised a little. Molly agreed to put her beautiful head of hair on the line in a match for the Women’s Championship. Victoria came out on top and shaved her opponent’s head in perhaps Molly’s most embarrassing moment. To cover up the baldness, Molly came to the ring in the following weeks wearing a wide array of different wigs, claiming it was her real hair.

Trish slaps Chris Jericho and kisses Christian – WrestleMania XX
Chris Jericho and Christian were a very successful tag team combination. The two even held the World Tag Team Championship together at one time, but Trish Stratus came between them. Chris Jericho had grown feelings for Stratus, and Christian was upset because it was taking away from their effectiveness as a tag team. The two met at WrestleMania XX, and interference from Trish led to a Jericho loss. It was thought that the interference was unintentional, but after the match she slapped Jericho and added insult to injury by making out with Christian.
